History of
a constant
evolution

The SILVANT group has experienced a remarkable development since the start of the activity by home-based employee Yves SILVANT, its founder, in 1976. Born in a family established in the Pays Horloger before the 17th century, trained in precision mechanics, he perfected his knowledge in the local watchmaking companies before putting his know-how at the service of great watchmakers and famous brands in luxury. For two decades, the entire family and a handful of passionate craftsmen have worked to support the development of this treasure, which has now become a group expanded into industry employing more than 315 people and covers more than 17 rare trades.

In the
heart of THE

pays horloger

The SILVANT group, located in Damprichard, a village in the Haut-Doubs Horloger region in Burgundy Franche Comté, draws its roots from the ancestral know-how developed by the local watchmakers. Nature, beautiful and omnipresent, forms a greenery that man has learned to use while preserving it and where the gesture and the transmission of knowledge are major concerns. As the cradle of French watchmaking and a land of traditional craftsmanship, the Pays Horloger carries in its genes and in its history a passion for the small and the precise. It is one of the world's main centres of excellence in watchmaking and, more generally, in microtechnology. As a neighbour of nearby Switzerland, it has shared its people, families and know-how since the 15th century.

The
foundations

Yves Silvant sets up his own business as an artisan welder at 22 rue Grammont in Damprichard. The attractive good years of the French watchmaking industry allow the activity to develop brazing for external watch parts.

A few dozen employees make up the small company that moves into a new building. The mechanical and polishing trades were added to brazing for the watchmaking and medical sectors. The gradual decline of the French watchmaking industry provides the company the opportunity to diversify into the luxury marketplace. Then, it incorporated then integrated hot stamping and CNC machining. Nicolas, Raphaël and Ismaël Silvant, the founder's three sons, take on responsibilities to develop the business.
